FELT IN INTERIOR DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE
Felt as an interior material
Wool felt
Wool felt brings warmth, tranquility, and an earthy charm to interior design. The high quality of wool and colorful decorative felts opens up endless possibilities for diverse applications. With multiple strengths and an extensive color palette, wool felt is a material that combines functionality with aesthetic appeal.
The wool felts in the Natural collection are especially well-suited for minimalist designs, where they can soften or enhance the desired style. Alternatively, they can be used as a complementary pop of color to elevate the overall aesthetic.
Wool felt is an incredibly versatile material. It can be used as a surface material like any other, but its varying levels of stiffness and thickness open up endless possibilities for three-dimensional designs, allowing creativity to soar.
Felt can be cut in countless ways and combined with other materials. It can also be sewn, glued, or woven—limited only by your imagination!
As an excellent acoustic material, wool felt is perfect not only for furniture but also for walls, partitions, or even as a piece of art (see Inspiration). One of its key advantages is its natural fire safety—wool fibers are inherently slow to ignite.
From the felt you can produce:
- wall textiles, curtains
- seats, bayonets
- rugs
- space dividers
- containers
- individual decorations: handles, coasters, tablecloths
Synthetic felt
When the refined qualities and higher costs of wool felt aren’t necessary, synthetic felt becomes an excellent choice. The SPP collection of synthetic felts provides lightweight and durable solutions for various needs. It’s ideal for creating exhibition carpets, temporary or permanent flooring, and automotive upholstery. Additionally, it works well as a lightweight acoustic material that combines functionality with an appealing aesthetic.
The collection offers vibrant and traditional color options. SPP felts are made entirely of 100% polypropylene.

Properties of Wool Felt
Wool felt stands out for its unique ability to absorb and release moisture, making it an excellent material for balancing humidity levels in a room. Additionally, its acoustic properties are impressive, as wool felt effectively dampens sound.
Wool felt withstands high temperatures and is naturally fire-safe. It does not sustain flames, ignite easily, or release toxic gases when burning. Furthermore, wool felt is biodegradable, making it an eco-friendly material choice.
This natural material is experiencing a renaissance, gaining popularity across various fields and inspiring designers to explore its numerous possibilities.
Our selection includes wool felts in varying thicknesses, starting from 1 mm. The 1 mm felt is closest to fabric in texture, making it the easiest to sew. The thickness needed depends on the application. For instance, 3 mm felt used in wall panel installations may require frames or moldings for a clean finish. Thicker options, such as 5 mm felt, are sturdier and stronger but more challenging—though not impossible—to sew. Read more about sewing wool felt here.
FY-PES Collection
The felts in the FY-PES collection offer an alternative to wool felts and are suitable for various interior products and accessories. Their smooth and soft surface creates a high-quality impression, while the low weight per square meter allows for diverse shapes and designs. For applications requiring greater durability, the SPP collection is a better choice.
